The Crib!

Last night we finally brought the box upstairs that has been housing our crib for the past couple of weeks.  Since the new carpet is in, we were at last able to set it up.  I'm really excited to finally have the crib in place!  It definitely makes the room feel more like a nursery.  Now all we need is a mattress for The Bean and he'll have a real bed!  My stress level of getting everything done has definitely gone down :)

We went with Storkcraft :)

Unpacking the contents

He calls this stuff "Adult Legos" :)

Looking more like a crib!

Putting in the final screws and finishing touches

Yay!! Completed Crib!!

Next up will be bead board and baseboards :-)  So excited!!!

30.5 Weeks and a Nursery Update

Well, we finally got our carpet replaced upstairs!  Hallelujah!!! This is one major project that I have been dying to get done especially before baby boy makes his arrival.  The carpet we had before was nasty.  I think it was supposed to be a cream color??  It's hard to know for sure because it was in pretty bad shape when we bought the  house.  So since I had Monday off of work, we scheduled it for that day.  It was quite the process, moving everything off of the floor and off of the dressers, and basically leaving empty heavy furniture upstairs for the carpet guys to move.  At the moment, our downstairs looks like a huge mess, but eventually it will all be put back together.

Here is a before picture with the old carpet:

Ok, so technically this is from downstairs before we got our laminate put in...but you get the picture.  The carpet upstairs was about 10 times worse, with stains and dirt and just yuck.

Here are some after pictures:

The new carpet is more of a darker tan speckled look.  It should hide dirt well, which is a plus now that we'll have a child and 2 puppies running around :)  And it is oh so soft!  I don't feel the need to put slippers on to walk around on the carpet anymore!

And now on to the nursery update.  Since we have the carpet in place, we can finally put furniture in that room.  We waited until now so that it wouldn't be extra furniture to move around when we got the carpet put in.  So last night we started with the glider.

Got all the pieces laid out

Preggo me with my cliche bowl of ice cream...

He's not so sure about all this new stuff

Almost done...

The finished product!

It's pretty comfy, and I love the fact that it reclines and still glides.  I can definitely see myself spending some nights in this chair!  Unfortunately the ottoman came with some bent brackets so we will have to go exchange that piece.  But, I'm happy with what we have so far!!

And here is the 30.5 week belly picture...

Tonight, we will be setting up the crib!! SO excited about that!!  I will be sure to take more pictures and post another update on that one.

I Made the Website!

I just saw this today and it made me happy!  So I wanted to share.  I do crossfit at a local place Crossfit Centurion.  Today when I checked the website to see what the workout would be, I scrolled through some of the photos on their site, and low and behold....

There I am!!  Belly and all.  It just made me smile.  Guess that makes me a little more obligated to go today ;-)

29 Weeks

I am now about 29.5 weeks along and into my third trimester.  Time seems to be flying by now, whereas in my first trimester, and half of my second, I felt like the days and weeks were just crawling by.  But now that there is only about 2.5 months or less until baby boy comes...well lets just say I'm starting to freak out a little!    Not in the "I'm  not ready to have a baby!" sense, but more of the "The nursery isn't ready, we don't have any of the items we need, our house projects aren't done yet!" kind of sense.  The Hubs and I are definitely ready emotionally and mentally for this little guy.  But our house...not quite as ready as we are.  i.e. we have a crib sitting in a box downstairs in the entry way, and a glider sitting in a box upstairs...So hopefully in the (short) weeks to come, I will have some house updates and nursery updates to share.

And now, on to the stats:

How far along? 29 weeks.
Baby size? 15.25 inches long and weighs about 2.5 pounds, the size of a butternut squash
What's going on with the baby? Muscles and lungs are continuing to mature and his head is growing bigger to make room for the developing brain.  His bones are continuing to harden and absorb calcium and he is continuing to gain all that cute baby fat!
Total weight gain/loss: At my 28 week appointment I had gained a total of 20-ish pounds from the beginning of the pregnancy. (They didn't tell me specifically, but I think it was something like that)  I'm hoping some of that is from the holidays...
Maternity clothes? I'm mostly wearing all maternity clothes now.  I have very few "normal" shirts that are long enough now.  My sweatshirts and t-shirts are not long enough anymore, and I've had to resort to wearing some of John's.  I don't think any of my coats will button/close anymore :)
Stretch marks? None yet. I'm use Palmer's Cocoa butter massage cream for stretch marks after showers.
Sleep: I wake up a lot during the night (every time I turn over).  I'm having to go to the bathroom more often.  And I wake up with pain in my right hip most nights.
Best moment this week: Getting our crib (so excited to set it up soon!)
Awkward moment this week: Having someone from work tell me that I'm starting to waddle...(um, what do you say to that?  Thanks?)
Miss anything? Sleeping on my stomach, Diet Dr. Pepper, sushi from Mikuni, and sleeping through the night
Movement: He is super active now.  I feel movement pretty much through out the day.  The movements are getting stronger, and we can see little body parts as he shifts positions.  He is doing more shifting and turning rather than kicking and punching now that he is getting bigger and running out of room.
Food cravings: Nothing out of the ordinary.
Anything making you queasy or sick? Nope, not anymore!
Have you started to show yet? Definitely!
Gender prediction: Boy!
Labor signs: Nope.
Belly button in or out? In for now.  It pokes out depending on where the little guy is pushing on my belly.
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or moody most of the time? Happy. At least I think so... Maybe a little emotional at times, and nervous about getting everything ready.
Looking forward to: Getting our carpet replaced so we can really make progress on the nursery!

27 Weeks

Tomorrow I will be 27 weeks pregnant with our Baby Boy.  And considering it's been about a month since I posted an updated belly picture...this post is way past due!  We took this picture on Christmas night in front of our own little tree.  I'm being told more and more now how much I'm growing.  And am starting to get comments from strangers, meaning I guess it's pretty obvious now that it's a preggo belly and not a Holiday food belly :)

And now for the stats:

How far along? 27 weeks.
Baby size? 14.5 inches long and weighs about 2 pounds
What's going on with the baby? Baby boy is super active!  Many people have been able to feel him move, and my stomach definitely shows movement (which is kinda weird but very cool).  He looks like a thinner, more wrinkled version of what he will look like at birth and will begin filling out with baby fat for the next 13 weeks.  His immune system is maturing and his lungs are getting more and more practice for his first gulp of air.
Total weight gain/loss: At my 24 week appointment I had gained a total of 12-ish pounds from the beginning of the pregnancy. (They didn't tell me specifically, but I think it was something like that)
Maternity clothes? I'm mostly wearing all maternity clothes now.  I have very few "normal" shirts that are long enough now.  And even sweatshirts/t-shirts are getting tight.
Best moment this week: Having other people be able to see and feel his movements, and celebrating Christmas with the Bean!
Awkward moment this week: Having a random guy ask me if I was going snowboarding with a baby...and then asking if that was even legal (I was just picking up hubby's board from the ski check!)
Miss anything? Sleeping on my stomach, Diet Dr. Pepper, and sushi from Mikuni
Movement: He is super active now.  I feel movement pretty much through out the day.  The movements are getting stronger, and we can see little body parts as he shifts positions.
Food cravings: Nothing out of the ordinary.
Anything making you queasy or sick? Chicken is still a little iffy, but I was able to eat some over the holidays with no problems.
Have you started to show yet? Definitely!
Gender prediction: Boy!
Labor signs: Nope.
Belly button in or out? In for now.  Although I can see a change coming sadly.
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or moody most of the time? Happy. At least I think so... Maybe a little emotional at times.
Looking forward to: Making more progress on the nursery and starting the New Year countdown to baby boy!

Holiday Recap

Now that the holidays are nearly over (so sad about that!), I thought I should do a little catch up and post some highlights of the recent holidays so far.

Here are a few pictures of some little activities that have taken place this month:

Our Christmas tree.  I had to play with my new DSLR camera!

This was my Dad's Christmas Concert at Church.  He is the one dressed like Joseph :)

The week before Christmas it is now a tradition for my family to make the short drive up the hill to South Lake Tahoe and stay there for about a week.  My parents have an awesome time share where the lobby literally opens to the gondola entrance for the Heavenly Ski resort.  This year, there wasn't a whole lot of skiing/boarding going on...the hubs is the only one that got to go up, and that was only for one day!  Very unfortunate.  This was my first season being up there and not being able to snowboard...it was very weird.  But other than that, we all had a great time hanging out and just being with family.  My sister and her husband were there, and my Aunt and Uncle from Texas were able to come out for a few days as well!  I love this time of year and being able to be with family.

Outdoor skating rink at the time share

Dark Lord beer that the boys have been waiting months to try!

Toasting via Skype with Hubby's brother in law who they got the beer from

The drive home from Tahoe took much longer than it should have due to conditions like this...

But once we finally got down the mountain and out of the snow (Heavenly got 36 inches that day!!), we were greeted by some more Southern California family that came up to spend Christmas with us!   My Aunt, Uncle and two cousins drove up to spend some time with us.

My Uncle

Hubs, cousin, and uncle, all watching sports no doubt!

We have had so much fun with them, and obviously wish we could see them more often!  Those kids are growing so fast its incredible!

Christmas day was a lot of fun.  Hubby and I woke up and exchanged our presents to each other from The Bean.  I got a prenatal massage (so excited!) and he got Lego's that will be decorations in the Bean's room until he's old enough to play with them.  Then we gathered up the puppies and headed over to my parents house.  We all opened presents and had our traditional breakfasts (Mom's homemade bubble coffee cake for us, and sausage and biscuits with gravy for the hubs :) ).  Then it was time to get cooking!  The rest of the day was spent preparing Christmas dinner (for the  ladies) and watching movies/playing with new toys (for the boys).  All in all, a very good day :)

Wine toppers homemade by my cousin!

Sorry for such a long post!  But I hope your holidays were just as special!!
