Picture Wall

Browsing through Pinterest a while back, I came across this Pin.  And I LOVED it!!  It dresses up the wall so much and is such an awesome way to display pictures.  We love having pictures of family, but eventually, we ran out of space to put them.  There are only so many tables, and shelves to put frames on.  So I loved that this idea consolidated all of the memories into one location.  Here's a picture of the idea on pinterest:

I chose to make mine a little more "eclectic" and not  have matching frames for now.  But the lovely thing about this, is that at any time, I could go get or create some matching frames for the existing pictures and layout, and it would totally change the look!  Very versatile.  Our wall is not quite done  yet as I ran out of frames.  But I also plan to put up a similar vinyl decal in the center with some sort of quote about family and friends and memories.

But here is the beginnings of our picture wall.

I didn't really lay anything out before I started.  I just started putting holes in the wall.  I would hold up a frame and move it around a little before I set the nail, but I did not have a grand scheme design before I started.  I went with random :)  I didn't want it to look too planned. Lexi Turns 2

Our dog Lexi turned 2 this weekend and I got some decent pictures of her while trying to eat her treats.  We took both of the dogs on a hike on Saturday, and on the way home we stopped at a local place that sells doggie cookies.  We got a couple and gave them to Lexi the next day for her birthday.  I just wanted to share some of the pictures because I think they are super cute!  We also got her and Paddington each a new bone.  But since Lexi thinks all toys are hers, she proceeded to bury hers somewhere in the yard, and then steal Paddy’s and bury his somewhere in the yard as well.  Hopefully she’ll dig them up soon!

Happy Valentine's Day & Happy Birthday!

Today is a very special day.  Not only is it Valentine's Day, but it is my big sister's birthday!  Happy Birthday Heather!!  I love you and you are the best big sister a girl could ever hope for :-)  Here is some birthday bling for you!

And on the Valentine's day side of things, tonight I will be attempting to make lasagna for my special Valentine.  And tomorrow night he will be making me breakfast for dinner, complete with Cream of Wheat (I’m a southern girl at heart still)! 

This weekend we plan to go see This Means War.  Since V-day is in the middle of the week, we decided to wait till the weekend to go out to celebrate. 

On another note, this has been a very exciting week for me so far!  About a week ago, I purchased the Family Household Binder combo pack from Jen over at I Heart Organizing.  She has this crazy cool Etsy shop with all sorts of customizable printables.  It makes it so much fun to stay organized!  I just finished printing and putting together our Barker Household binder last night and I’m really excited to fill it all out.  I’m crazy I know…my husband tells me I get excited by the weirdest things…it could be worse though, right?  Getting excited about being organized isn’t a bad thing, weird maybe, but not bad.

The second great thing so far this week is that I am going to be a Co-Host for Jaime over at Crafty Scrappy Happy!  I will be one of 20 or so blogs helping her celebrate her one year Blogiversary by co-hosting a link party with her!  The link party will start tomorrow night so be sure to check back and check out her awesome blog!

Birthday Monday!

I wanted to make a special post today because today is a special day.  On this day 27 years ago, the love of my life was born!  He is an amazing man and I'm so lucky to have him in my life.  I'm so thankful for this day!

The other reason this is a special day is because it is also my Mother In Law's birthday!  She's a wonderful lady and I'm also very lucky to have her as family now!  Happy birthday to both of you!
