34 Weeks and Another Shower!

This past weekend my sister (and other family members) threw me a baby shower.  My mother-in-law and sister-in-law decided to come out for this event which made it that much more special.  The 3 of us were able to keep it a secret from my husband that they were coming, and so Valentine's day night, he got a very unexpected surprise when he opened the front door to find them standing there.  It was a lot of fun to see the look on his face.

My aunt and cousin, also came up from southern CA to help with the shower and to help me celebrate.  Two things I know for sure are that I have an amazing family, and that this little boy of ours is already so loved.

My sister, who did the bulk of the work and the planning of this shower, really and truly outdid herself on this one.  The shower was so much fun, the decorations were incredible and I was basically speechless when I walked in the door.  The theme was Candy Land and I think I have to let the pictures speak for themselves...

I really had a fantastic time and got some great gifts.  I will spare you most of the pictures of me opening gifts...but it really was such an amazing day.  I have the best sister in the world and our little guy has one awesome Aunt!!  But many thanks also need to go out to my Mom, my Aunt, and my sister's mother-in-law who also came up for helping put together this special day.

And just for a few quick stats, I am about 34.5 weeks in these pictures.  Baby bean is still movin' and shakin' a whole lot.  I have been getting some swollen feet, but nothing too terrible.  We had a check up on V-day and everything looked great.  At our next appointment our doctor will check to see what position he's in officially.  We are getting very close and the excitement is setting in more and more :)  I should have a nursery update post coming very soon.  We have all of the bead board done, chair rail done, and baseboards done.  Now the hubs is just doing some touch up work of caulking and painting!

33 Weeks and Shower Part 1

A couple of weekends ago an amazing friend of mine, Jamie over at This Little Home of Mine was sweet enough to throw me a baby shower!  I am so lucky to have such great friends.

The shower was so much fun and Jamie did a great job with the shower.  I got so many great gifts for our little bean.

I was about 33.5 weeks at the time of this shower.  The bean is doing great and is still constantly moving which is great.  I personally think he is head down (the way he should be) since I am feeling the big movements up on the top of my belly, and all the little movements, including hiccups are down in the lower parts of my belly.  The doctor should be able to tell at our 36 week appointment.

And now on to some shower pictures!  She threw me an airplane themed shower since the theme of our nursery is airplanes and maps.

Amazing and delicious cake!

32 Weeks

I finally got around to updating my chalk board last night.  So here are the 32 week stats:

How far along? 32 weeks.
Baby size? 16.5 inches long and weighs about 4.5 pounds
What's going on with the baby? Baby boy is still moving around quite a bit.  Although his movements are much more noticeable from the outside now.  I'm pretty sure he's already head down (which is great!).  He's going to be gaining about a half a pound a week from now until birth.
Total weight gain/loss: I'm not exactly sure where I am at this point.  Probably around 22-24 pounds total.  We have our next appointment on Valentine's day :)
Maternity clothes? Yep, 98% maternity clothes now.  Other than the few large size t-shirts of John's that still fit on the weekend.  As for jeans and work clothes though, its all maternity.
Stretch marks? None yet. I'm use Palmer's Cocoa butter massage cream for stretch marks after showers.
Sleep: I wake up a lot during the night (every time I turn over).  I'm having to go to the bathroom more often.  And I wake up with pain in my right hip most nights.
Best moment this week: Getting so much of the nursery done!
Awkward moment this week: Having someone at work respond with "Whoa March?!" after asking when I was due.  I can't figure out if she thought I was not big enough to be due so soon, or thought I was so big, that there's no way I'd make it to March...
Miss anything? Sleeping on my stomach, Diet Dr. Pepper, and sushi from Mikuni
Movement: He is super active now.  I feel movement pretty much through out the day.  The movements are getting stronger, and we can see little body parts as he shifts positions, he makes my whole belly shift!
Food cravings: Apple juice has been the only out of the ordinary thing.
Anything making you queasy or sick? Nope, not anymore
Have you started to show yet? Definitely!
Gender prediction: Boy!
Labor signs: Nope.
Belly button in or out? I'm not sure it qualifies as either.  It's pretty much flush with the rest of my belly.  It changes slightly depending on where those little baby body parts are
Wedding rings on or off? On.
Happy or moody most of the time? Happy. Definitely getting in to the nesting phase
Looking forward to: Getting the "construction" portion of the nursery done and starting to organize.  Also looking forward to my baby showers coming up!

Nursery Update - Bead board!

I am now about 32 weeks along and our baby boy sure is growing.  We are nearing the due date and have only 7.5 weeks left!  It's really crazy to think that we could be meeting our little bean next month :)  And with the progress that is being made in the nursery, I'm feeling so much better that we will definitely be ready for him.

Over the weekend the hubby did so much work and got about 98% of the bead board up!  It was so exciting to watch the progress.  We bought 4' x 8' sheets of primed bead board at Lowe's along with a few 12' strips of chair rail.  We had the folks at Lowe's cut the sheets in half for us, so we ended up with 12 sheets of 4' x 4' bead board.  Last weekend we (meaning him, because I'm not supposed to paint right now), painted all of the bead board and chair rail in white.

This weekend (after hubby had ripped out all of the old base boards in the nursery), we were able to start putting the sheets up.  The tools he used were:

Liquid Nails
Nail gun
Level
Circular saw
Jigsaw
And as always, a pencil and tape measure

I did actually help put the sheets up, but he did all the measuring, and cutting.  He had to cut around outlets and windows using the jigsaw, and cut pieces to fit in the corners when it wasn't quite 4' wide.  We spread the liquid nails all over the back of the sheet, lined it up on the wall, made sure it was level, and then nail that sucker in.  And I must say, its looking fabulous.  He just has a couple more random sized walls to do by the closet and door.

Thank you to our friend Matt for letting us borrow the nail gun!  He totally wants one of his own now :)

The dresser wall
We had about half of the room complete after Saturday.  We had to stop because we ran out of daylight which we needed to use the saws outside.

While Lexi made sure to get some sunbathing in, John finished up the cuts for the last big wall on Sunday.

Now what we have left to do is put the new baseboards back on, add the chair rail on top, add a window sill (I never realized before this project that none of our windows have window sills!), and fill in the gaps with some caulk :).  We should be able to get that all done next weekend!  Then we can move the furniture into place, and I can start with the decorating details.

Thank you to my wonderful husband for obliging this nesting mama of her design desires :)
